More information than ever. The work is deciding what to do with it

The goal of our research is to help clinicians and individuals make informed, safe and effective decisions.

Recent advances in artificial intelligence, continuous wearable monitoring and the easier availability of various omics data have given us access to more information than ever before, but translating all that data into actionable insights remains a significant challenge. We balance our excitement about new developments with the responsibility of highlighting the uncertainties and caveats which always accompany scientific progress.

Our research

Evidence assessment on-demand

Conducting scoping reviews of medical research to support our clinicians in making the most evidence-informed decisions possible. This might be determining how the research into a particular treatment applies to a given individual's unique circumstances, or evaluating how a new biomarker or test can be applied in practice.

Data tools

Developing data tools to systematically integrate new data into clinical practice. Currently, the rich potential insights offered by complex data types like genomics and microbiome analysis are siloed and hard to compare to traditional clinical biomarkers, making it difficult to get an overall picture.

We are developing tools which use systems biology approaches alongside the careful application of AI to help clinicians understand and visualise the fundamental biological processes that link these data together. Crucially, we also design our tools to provide a transparent and reproducible assessment of the evidence behind those links.

Academic collaboration

Collaborating with academic centres to develop and test new protocols. Our preventative protocols are aimed at reducing the risk and progression of fundamental diseases of ageing, such as neurodegeneration and cardiovascular disease, by targeting the common biological processes which drive them.

We work with academic collaborators to develop protocols which move beyond generic lifestyle advice but remain rooted in safe clinical practice. Often these protocols are based on the systematic application of the processes and tools from our other research themes. Our current focus areas include strategies to protect long-term cognitive function, or neuroprotection, and personalised supplement prescribing.

Current work includes a feasibility pilot in precision nutrition and cognitive health with the NNEdPro Global Institute for Food, Nutrition and Health, presented at NUTRITION 2026.

We collaborate closely with our clinicians and practitioners in all of our research, to ensure that new developments reach the individuals who will benefit from them as quickly as possible.
